Frequently Asked Questions

Planning a trip to Vietnam can be an exciting experience, as the country offers a rich tapestry of history, culture, and natural beauty. To see the main attractions, a stay of around two to three weeks is generally recommended. Here’s a suggested breakdown:

1. Hanoi and Northern Vietnam (4-5 days)
  • Hanoi: Spend a couple of days exploring the capital city, visiting sites like the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and the Temple of Literature.
  • Ha Long Bay: Allocate a day or two for a cruise around this UNESCO World Heritage site, famous for its emerald waters and limestone karsts.
  • Sapa: If you have extra time, consider a visit to Sapa for trekking through terraced rice fields and experiencing local ethnic cultures.
2. Central Vietnam (5-6 days)
  • Hue: Spend a day or two exploring the ancient capital’s imperial citadel, pagodas, and royal tombs.
  • Da Nang: Visit the Marble Mountains, My Khe Beach, and the Dragon Bridge.
  • Hoi An: Plan for two to three days in this charming town known for its well-preserved Ancient Town, lantern-lit streets, tailors, and nearby My Son ruins.
3. Southern Vietnam (4-5 days)
  • Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon): Spend a couple of days exploring the bustling city, including the War Remnants Museum, Cu Chi Tunnels, Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon, and Ben Thanh Market.
  • Mekong Delta: Consider a day trip or an overnight tour to experience the river life, floating markets, and lush landscapes.
  • Phu Quoc or Mui Ne: If you’re interested in beach time, allocate a couple of days for these beautiful coastal spots.
Optional Additions
  • Ninh Binh: Often called "Ha Long Bay on land," this area offers stunning landscapes and boat rides through caves and along rivers.
  • Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park: For adventure seekers, this park is home to some of the world’s most impressive caves.
While two to three weeks should cover the essentials comfortably, the length of your stay can vary based on your travel pace and interests. Always consider buffer days for travel between regions and some downtime to fully enjoy the experience.

The best time to visit Ho Chi Minh City, often referred to as Saigon, is during the dry season, which typically runs from December to April. Here's why:

  1. Weather: The dry season offers more pleasant weather with lower humidity and less rainfall, making it an ideal time for sightseeing and outdoor activities. Temperatures are generally warm, ranging from 77°F to 95°F (25°C to 35°C), but without the oppressive heat and humidity of the wet season.
  2. Festivals and Events: Visiting between late January and early February is particularly special because you can experience Tet, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year. This is the most significant holiday in Vietnam, filled with colorful decorations, traditional performances, and lively street markets.
  3. Tourist Attractions: With clearer skies and less rain, you can fully enjoy the city's many attractions, such as the War Remnants Museum, the Cu Chi Tunnels, and the bustling Ben Thanh Market. The dry conditions also make it easier to explore the Mekong Delta and other nearby areas.
  4. Comfort: The dry season is more comfortable for travelers unaccustomed to tropical climates. You'll avoid the heavy rains and potential flooding that can occur during the wet season, which lasts from May to November.
While the dry season is the most popular time for tourists, it's worth noting that this also means larger crowds and possibly higher prices for flights and accommodations. If you prefer fewer tourists and don't mind occasional rain showers, the shoulder months of November and May can also be a good time to visit.

Yes, as an Indian citizen, you will need a visa to visit Vietnam. There are a few different ways to obtain a visa for Vietnam:

  1. E-Visa: Vietnam offers an electronic visa (e-visa) for Indian citizens, which can be applied for online. The e-visa is valid for 30 days and is a single-entry visa. You can apply for it through the official Vietnamese government website.
  2. Visa on Arrival: This option is available if you are arriving in Vietnam by air. You will need to apply for a visa approval letter through a travel agency before you depart. Once you arrive in Vietnam, you can obtain your visa at the airport.
  3. Embassy or Consulate: You can also apply for a visa by visiting the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate in India. This method might be more suitable if you prefer having your visa before you travel.
Make sure to check the latest updates and requirements regarding visas, as policies can change. Safe travels!

The cost of a Da Nang tour package can vary widely depending on several factors such as the duration of the tour, the type of accommodations, the inclusions (e.g., meals, entrance fees, guided tours), and the travel season. On average, you might expect to pay anywhere from $200 to $1000 per person for a multi-day tour package.

For a more specific price, it's best to check with travel agencies or tour operators that offer packages to Da Nang. They can provide detailed information based on your preferences and needs. Additionally, looking for reviews and testimonials from past travelers can give you a better idea of what to expect in terms of cost and experience.
